light therapy

Did you know that red and infrared light has been shown to increase cellular energy levels and reduce the effects of aging and disease due to excessive oxidative stress? (1-7)

To date, there are at least 5,700 citations in the National Library of Medicine about the efficacy of red and infrared light therapy (also known as photobiomodulation low level laser therapy) (1). Red light therapy may be used for various applications, including "wound healing, stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative conditions, cancer, in vitro fertilization and pain management" or any health condition which might benefit from the "upregulation of mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and downregulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in oxidatively stressed cells" (1).

Although red light therapy devices can be purchased, perhaps the easiest form of red light therapy comes from natural sunlight, which is composed of 42% red and infrared light (7).
